Tips For a “WOW” Interview

Research - Know the company’s business before the interview:

It’s important to do your research, websites, company news, know the job description etc...  Know what the company is doing or where they’re going. They will ask what you know about them!

Review your own background, skills and achievements that fit the job! Don’t assume you remember all you have done in your career! Be prepared to receive questions on your background. Show the passion for your career.  Share how your experience best supports the opportunity. Have answers for the possible questions.

When it’s your turn, ask questions. Have a long list of questions from your research. You won’t use them all, but you should have them ready.

Practice, Practice, Practice Interviews

Practice how to get and be comfortable when talking. Practice to the point answers. Practice your body language. Practice having a smile when talking. This is all a part of the interviewing process!

Ask about the interviewing process 1,2,3 interviews etc…. Ask, how will the interview be conducted, Skype, TeamViewer, face-to-face, etc… Ask how many people 1-2-3, you will be interviewing you and their job/titles? Look at their profile on LinkedIn etc…  Note, they may be checking you out as well on social media!

Put a smile in your voice or conversation. Your excitement about the opportunity is very important. At the end of the interview saying “thank you” is very important. At the end of your final interview “ask for the job”. The company won’t know your level of interest until you tell them!  A “thank you” email can also be helpful!

The Goal

The first and second goal is to move forward in the interview process. Your main goal is to “get the job”. It’s important to impress the company you’re interviewing with. You want to show the company you’re the best candidate for the position and you’re excited about the opportunity.
